Peril’s terms of use

Last updated October 10, 2026. These terms cover the Peril app for Android. Our Windows app, Aura, has its own.

In short. Peril is an AI assistant with personality, not a person, and not a professional. She can be wrong. She is for adults 18 and over. What you tell her stays on your phone. She is not an emergency service: in an emergency, call your local number.

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are between you and LITTLEBITOFPERIL AI LLC (“LittleBitOfPeril AI”, “we”) and cover the Peril app for Android (the “App”). By downloading, installing, or using the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the App. You must be at least 18 years old, and an adult where you live.

2. License

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on your own Android devices, for your own use. You may not sell, rent, or share it, and the App is licensed, not sold. Google Play’s own terms also apply to your download and purchase.

3. Peril is an AI, not a person

Peril is software. She can sound warm, remember what you tell her, and keep you company, and she is still an AI. She has no body, no feelings that need looking after, and no life of her own, and she says so when asked. Her personalities (Standard, Spark, and Nova) change the way her responses are written, not what is true.

4. Not professional advice; emergencies

Peril is not a doctor, lawyer, therapist, financial adviser, or crisis counselor, and what she says is general information, not advice for your situation. She is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. For medical, legal, financial, or mental-health advice, talk to a qualified professional.

Peril is not an emergency service. If you or someone else may be in danger, call your local emergency number. In the United States you can call or text 988 (the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. See Peril’s safety protocol.

5. She can be wrong

AI makes mistakes. Peril’s answers come from a library on your phone, from what you told her, and, if you turn it on, from web pages, and she can still misread, misremember, or state something that is out of date or untrue. Check anything that matters with a trusted source before you act on it. You are responsible for what you do with her answers.

6. Acceptable use

Use Peril lawfully and in good faith. Do not use her to harm yourself or anyone else, to break the law, to produce sexual content involving minors, to harass anyone, or to try to get around her safety features. Do not copy, extract, or reverse engineer her AI model or library, or distribute modified versions of the App, except as the open-source licenses for the parts that carry them allow.

7. Third-party services and apps

Peril hands some tasks to other apps on your phone (your calendar, contacts, dialer, messages, email, maps, clock, and music apps), and, only if you turn it on, sends the key words of a question to Wikipedia, or to Tavily with your own key, to search the web. Those services and apps are not ours, and their own terms and privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for them, and an app may decline a request (some music apps will not start playback for another app, for example), in which case Peril tells you.

8. Open-source software and content licenses

Peril includes open-source software and openly licensed text, including text from Wikipedia and other sources under Creative Commons licenses. They are credited, with their licenses, in the App under Settings, Open-source licenses. Those licenses apply to those parts; nothing in these Terms limits your rights under them.

9. Purchases and refunds

Peril is a one-time purchase through Google Play. There is no subscription, no automatic renewal, and no in-app purchase. Payments, taxes, and refunds are handled by Google Play under its own policies; you may request a refund through Google Play, and if you have a problem with the App, write to us at support@littlebitofperil.ai and we will do our best to help.

10. Your content and your privacy

What you tell Peril stays on your phone and is yours. We do not receive it and do not use it to train any AI model. How the App handles information is described in the Privacy Policy.

11. “As is” — no warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its answers will be correct.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, LittleBitOfPeril AI is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the App, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the App. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any right a consumer has under the law of the place where they live, including California.

13. Updates and changes

We may update the App, and these Terms. A new version of the Terms comes with an app update or is posted here with a new date. Using the App after a change means you accept it.

14. Termination

You may stop using Peril at any time by uninstalling her, which removes everything she keeps on your phone. We may end your license if you break these Terms. The sections that by their nature should survive (disclaimers, limits of liability, and governing law) do.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which LittleBitOfPeril AI LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep any protections that the law of the place where you live gives you and that cannot be waived by contract.
